Nursery Room Project Update July 5th, 2006
If any of you have ever completed a “do-it-yourself” home project, you completely understand the next question. How come you can never get everything you need in one trip? Now wrapping up the 72 hours of this project we have been back and forth to Lowes, Home Depot, and Home Depot Expo at least 2 times each. We should also include a few side trips to Costco. Oh yea, Starbucks too.
We’ve moved a great distance down the field since our last update. The curtains are now hung, just awaiting the final hems. The mural is well under way with numbers 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 painted and ready to go. (Forgot to include Michael’s in the store list above – and the reason you don’t see #2 in the previous list is because the Smyrna location of Michael’s seems not to believe in the #2. Luckily today on our trip back from Case Meade Villa Rica we secured a #2 from the Michael’s location in Douglasville. See multiple trips…) Sheep cloning continues at full speed, while tree production is being readied for Thursday morning.
Here’s a link to several photos from the last few days:

Looks like great progress is being made. We really enjoyed the get together yesterday. Thanks for taking a break from the project to spend some fun time with us.
If mom and I can help in any way, please let us know.

Something is definitely the matter if you don’t have to return many times for something essential.
The more trips to the hardware store the cuter the project. Just ask Rama who visits our local old-fashioned hardware multiple times per week.

Keith,
My own experience with DIY projects has led to the following theories:
1) If N = the number of projects you are trying to complete simultaneously, then 2N 1 = the number of trips you will take to the hardware store.
(As an aside, I achieved a major accomplishment today. I took on a $75-100 DIY repair project, and I actually only made ONE trip to the hardware store. I actually remembered to buy everything I needed. Woohoo!)
2) If you spend $100 on the first trip, then you will probably spend $10 on the next trip. The third trip will only cost $1, b/c you forgot something cheap. If you have to make a fourth trip, it will be for a little plastic doo-dad that cost 1 cent.

I don’t know why this didn’t work the first time, but there should have been a plus sign ( ) between the 2N and the 1 on theory #1.
